Region and Terroir: Danube Plain (PGI), Oryahovo, Bulgaria; carbonated black soil over loess on Danube slopes

Chateau Burgozone’s Chardonnay Barrique is a premium expression of cool-climate winemaking from Bulgaria’s Danube Plain. Made from low-yielding, hand-harvested grapes from the estate’s own vineyards near Oryahovo, this wine is a testament to the balance between varietal purity and subtle oak aging.

The wine undergoes fermentation with temperature control, followed by sur lies aging and 9 months in Bulgarian oak barrels (50%), adding depth and softness. It shines with a golden color and yellow glints, and opens with complex aromas of citrus, pineapple, butter, coconut, and dried figs.

On the palate, it is rich and textured, combining freshness from stone and exotic fruits with a harmonious finish of roasted nuts, honey, and vanilla. It’s a perfect match for fine cuisine – appetizers, seafood, duck, and cheese, especially creamy or aged varieties
