Marselan is a rare and intriguing grape, a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache, known for producing deeply colored, aromatic wines with character and finesse. Chateau Burgozone, a leading Bulgarian boutique winery located on the banks of the Danube River, offers a fine expression of this variety grown in its own single-vineyard estate in Oryahovo.
The grapes are manually harvested and hand-sorted, ensuring only the best clusters are used. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 6-9 months aging in French oak barrels. This careful process results in a wine of vivid garnet color, with both freshness and complexity.
The nose is layered with aromas of red and black fruits such as sour cherry and blackberry, enriched by smoky, caramel notes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and intense, with smooth integration of fruit and spicy hints of cedar, vanilla, and dark chocolate in the long finish.
Made by Château Burgozone, a winery recognized internationally for its elegant, terroir-driven wines, this vegan wine follows the estate’s philosophy of minimal intervention and sustainable viticulture. The Danubian terroir, with its unique loess-rich soil and river influence, brings minerality and elegance to every bottle.
Pair this Marselan with BBQ, roasted meats, game, or a decadent chocolate dessert for a memorable experience.
